Chipping Norton Historical Research Group

This group was formed in 2004 following a course on Reading Secretary Hand run by Oxford University Dept. of Continuing Education. The members are actively involved in researching the history of Chipping Norton and Over Norton and have just completed transcribing all the surviving probate documents for this area. Several exhibitions have been held in the town and elsewhere and their current work ‘The History of the Charter of Incorporation’ was  displayed in the Oxfordshire Record Office at St Luke’s, Cowley earlier this year. The group meets monthly to continue its aim of making historical records available to the public.
