Where we meet

We meet most months, always on a Monday, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. We meet  in the Chequers, which is next door to the Theatre, in the "small barn" which is the room beyond the restaurant.

All books are available from the Bookshop in the Market Square in Chipping Norton with a 10% discount for Talking pages.

The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen

Monday 20th July
Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes by Robert Louis Stevenson

There are several versions of this book available.  It's quite a short book so most publications contain 'Travels with a Donkey' and another title.  Chippy bookshop has the Penguin Classics version which pairs 'Travels' with 'The Amateur Emigrant', Stevenson's tale of his sea voyage to America (£8.99 less 10%).  An 'eat and sleep' guide to the route is given by Laurence Phillips in the Imprint version.
Since Stevenson's hike in 1878 many travellers have followed in his footsteps, with or without donkey.  An emotional journey is recounted by Christopher Rush in 'To Travel Hopefully'.
