WORK AND BUSINESS

Doing business in Chipping Norton

Chipping Norton sits in a key strategic position at the heart of the London – Birmingham – Bristol triangle.  It is within easy reach of both east / west and north / south main railway lines.  The M40 London to Birmingham motorway is 13 miles away and the town itself sits on the junction of the A44, A361 and A3400.  The nearby Kingham railway station has regular services through Oxford and Reading to London Paddington. The town is well served by bus routes to Oxford, Banbury, Stratford and Witney.

Chipping Norton is an ideal place to site your business.  The town has the kind of facilities that make doing business easier – 3 banks, several accountants, solicitors, insurance companies, printing firms and graphic designers.  There is a thriving Guild of Commerce and an established monthly Business Breakfast that is open to all.  A well established Business Support structure operates in the town and this website publishes local Job Vacancies and a Business Directory.

There are several small but thriving business parks and industrial estates, and details of vacant properties are listed on the Commercial Premises page.

The town is already home to some thriving and innovative businesses.  Owen Mumford design and manufacture a range of medical devices and disposables which are used by healthcare professionals and consumers worldwide.  The company is giving Chipping Norton its vote of confidence by expanding its manufacturing capacity in the town with a 7000 square metre extension to its factory, creating over 100 new jobs in the process.  CETA use cutting edge software technology to provide services to the insurance industry.  From a start up business in Chipping Norton 12 years ago, CETA has grown to provide insurance cover for over £3.5 billion worth of domestic property, through a network of 4,000 agents using its own tailor made quotation and administration software.  Like Owen Mumford, CETA are seeking to expand their business in the town by developing a new headquarters building.

Chipping Norton continues to grow in a controlled manner.  The old "Parker Knoll Factory Site" (pictured below) is being redeveloped with 133 new houses (including 53 affordable dwellings), with 5 acres of the site earmarked for business development (shown in red on the photo).
